The Countdown to Election Day
As we approach the end of the relentless political ads that have invaded our screens for months, it’s time to focus on what really matters: the upcoming election. If you haven’t voted yet, I urge you to take the time to educate yourself about the candidates and the various ballot measures that will impact our community and state.
For most of us, the ballot will feature six different elected positions and seven ballot measures. Each of these choices carries significant weight, not just in the short term, but for the future of our state. It’s crucial to understand the specifics of each measure because titles can often be misleading. The intent behind a measure may not align with its name, and a little research can go a long way in ensuring you’re not swayed by rhetoric from either side of the debate.
To aid in your research, the South Dakota Secretary of State's office provides a comprehensive pamphlet detailing the various ballot issues. This document includes explanations from the Attorney General’s office, along with pro and con statements for each measure. You can find the pamphlet here: https://sdsos.gov/elections-voting/assets/2024%20Assets/2024GeneralBQPamphlet.FINALdocx.pdf
It’s a valuable resource for understanding the implications of each issue.
Remember, informed voting is our best defense against misleading information. Take the time to delve into the details and make choices that reflect your values and priorities. The decisions we make at the polls today will shape our community for years to come.

🎃👻The Monarchs Who Care group would like to thank everyone who was able to attend the Halloween carnival. It was a great afternoon filled with games, goodies, and some awesome costumes. 🧙♀️🍬
